RUSTY'S LAST CALL A SUCCESS
---Geiger, Wysocki handle tour, will assist in 2006 ---
Delafield, WI (January 2006) -A Milwaukee area consulting group has completed the retirement tour of NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace for the 2005 season. Sig Wysocki, of Wysocki Marketing, and Doak Geiger of Geiger & Associates, LLC, coordinated the activities of Wallace during his final season driving the race circuit. They were responsible for planning individual, non sponsor-related events around the country and coordinating activities around these events.
Activities were conducted at all NASCAR NEXTEL Cup tracks during Rusty's last appearance as a full-time driver at the venue. In addition, the Busch Series race at Gateway International Raceway outside St. Louis renamed their race the Wallace Family Tribute 250. Rusty joined brothers Kenny and Mike as the track saluted the First Family of racing in St. Louis. It marked the first time ever that Rusty had driven in a major NASCAR event in his hometown.
Honors to Rusty Wallace for the season included
- Naming of Grandstands at Bristol Motor Speedway and Gateway International Raceway and a coveted granite rock at the entrance to Pocono Raceway.
- Induction in Hall of Fames at Daytona International Speedway, Infineon Raceway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Dover International Speedway, and Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C
- Roads dedicated to him at Texas Motor Speedway, Concord, N.C. airport, and Lowe's Motor Speedway
- Rusty Wallace Days proclamations in Daytona Beach, FL; Dover, Delaware; Richmond, VA; Talladega, AL; St. Louis, MO; Sonoma County, CA; and the states of Virginia, Delaware, and Texas.
- Receiving the Order of the First State in Delaware and the Long Leaf Pine Award in North Carolina by the state's Governor, the highest civilian award in each state.
Wysocki and Geiger will continue to consult with Rusty Wallace in 2006.
Wallace ended his driving career with 55 wins, 202 top-five finishes, 349 top-10 finishes and 36 pole positions. His name will be included with the greatest drivers to have ever competed in the most elite level of stock car racing and he will be remembered as one of the greatest representatives the sport has ever had.
I've always tried to be the best ambassador I could be for our sport, Wallace said. The sport's been good to me, but I've always been conscious of that and strive to give something back. The fans have been great and that's especially true for this year.
The sport of racing has given me a lot of fans, a lot of popularity, it's made me a lot of money, said Wallace. It's taught me a lot about life. It's taught me a lot of things. I've been able to meet people that I never thought I'd meet in my life presidents, dignitaries, you name it and I've met 'em. Without racing, I wouldn't have met 'em. I've learned you've got to be one of the best ambassadors for the sport you possibly can. We worked really hard to grow this incredible steam rolling NASCAR machine we've got right now
